Hi, I’m Allison. Welcome to Eco Rated Home! I am from Victoria, B.C., Canada. When I first started to learn about the sheer number of environmental toxins in common household products, I found myself falling into multiple research holes in a desperate attempt to discern what products would not bring toxic, endocrine-disrupting (and potentially cancer-causing) chemicals into my home.
This blog allows me to share what I learned along the way. I started this blog to draw attention to affordable, high-quality household items that contain no or low levels of environmental toxins.
As a chronic migraine sufferer with multiple food allergies (peanuts, tree-nuts, and eggs), I have always been aware of the potential toxins in my environment and how these affect my health on a day-to-day basis. I do my best to use products in my home that are relatively free of environmental toxins without compromising on quality or affordability (because no one wants an expensive and useless piece of equipment, even if it is eco-friendly!).
